Buying a Car from Canada But I am in the united states please help?

Okay Im purchasing a car from a private person in canada right so the problem is i live in minnesota coon rapids in the us and the car is of course in canada is it true if i buy the car from canada the goverment will tax me when i bring it back to the states? if so how much will the charge me the car is a 2007 mustang by the way

  2. Used cars are cheaper in the USA! And yes, you will have to pay tax. Also, unless the car was made in the US or Canada, chances are it will not pass US inspection and you may not even be able to register it in the USA.
  3. All depends on if it is for private use,business,to resell? If the EPA has not assigned a gas-guzz fuel- economy rating for the model auto you import, a rating must be indep determined. No tax is required on automobiles that have a combined fuel econ rating of at least 22.5 miles per gall. ....check with IRS for more info on tax. Hope this helps ususedauto
