Where is a fun Michigan cabin or campground for a weekend vacation?

I am from southwest Michigan, and am looking for a private cabin, campground cabin, etc. within a few hours of home (mid-Michigan, mid-western Michigan, northern Michigan) for a long weekend. The site must allow dogs, and preferably is fairly secluded with hiking, canoeing, or kayaking available nearby. Any suggestions? Thanks!

1. Check Traverse City, they also have great wine tasting, Suttons Bay is beautiful this time of year as well. North Port and Leelanau Peninsula too! :)
