Where are some good places to camp and canoe in lower Michigan?
We always go down the AuSable river out of Gayling, any ideas where we can go. No KOA's we are a large group who likes to have fun after 10pm =)

- Tabatha, You are really limiting your choices with the "have fun after 10 pm". Most State and private facilities either have a no noise or no noise after XX pm policy. There are two rivers I would suggest. Rifle River http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=rifle+river+canoe+trips&btnG=Search Pere Marquette River http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=pere+marquette+canoe+trips&btnG=Google+Search Sportsman's Connection now offers a Northern Michigan and a Southern Michigan "All Outdoors Atlas and Field Guide" which includes a list of rivers with their class designations (flat water like the Au Sable or Class V Like sections of the Montreal River) and campground locations. http://www.sportsmansconnection.com/atlases/ I believe my wife got ours at Meijers for around $30.00. This may also be available online. Also includes hiking trails, bird watching, bike trails, ORV, golf and much more. Some additional ideas are available on the website below.
