How to make local canoeing work?
I'd like to do some canoeing on the local rivers in Milwaukee. I've don't some research and know where to rent the canoe and which routes to take, but I just don't get to logistics of what to do when you get to the end of the route. Do you really need two people and two cars? What if I one have one car or no car? Just looking for tips and tricks on how to make this work!

- Ask the canoe rental place if they can't answer they'll tell you who to ask
- There are a few options. One is to find people to go with so you have a second car to do a shuttle. Try to find local canoe clubs in your area. The rental outfitters might know of groups. Besides having help with the shuttle, it's safer than going alone. If some of the rivers don't have significant current, you could do a round trip, paddling back upstream. Then you don't have to worry about a shuttle at all. Also check with the outfitters to see if they offer a shuttle service. I know of some canoe rental outfits in my area that offer it as part of the rental.
- Thye 'curse' of canoeing/kayaking...the shuttle. Safety suggests you don't boat alone. Hence you may have two cars available. Drive to the put-in. Unload the boats. Drive to the take-out and leave a car. Keys! Hide them/advise everyone where they are. Some boaters park a bike at the take-out and later cycle back to the put-in. Hire a driver. Hitch hike with a paddle. If the river is not too swift, you may be able to paddle back to the put-in. Find some locals who want to paddle the same routes. Find the local club. Deal with your rental agency.
