Rapids - Which neighborhoods in Cedar Rapids, Iowa would be ones to avoid when moving?

Which neighborhoods in Cedar Rapids, Iowa would be ones to avoid when moving?

I have a friend who is moving to Cedar Rapids. Are there any neighborhoods in Cedar Rapids to avoid? I am thinking in term of crime rates, etc. I am finding it difficult to find crime statistics by neighborhood online. Any factual support with your responses would be nice. Thanks.

I'd be just as concerned with avoiding the smell of ADM & Pennick & Ford plants (I can't remember which one stinks the worst). Since they are on the south side of town, choosing to live S or SW of Hwy 30 or on the W side of town might be a bit less smelly. Either that or look at Marion or Hiawatha. Depends if your friend is looking to purchase property, rent a house or rent an apartment. There are several bedroom communities within a few miles with lots of newly constructed homes and low crime rates. Or drive a few miles NE for more subdivisions. There are older homes on the NE side of CR. I don't think your friend needs to worry greatly about crime rate in CR. S/he could do much worse!
