Parents would you take you kids to a indoor water park in the winter?
I have twins a boy and a girl, they are turning 6 on Dec 15th. They love swimming and they want to have their birthday party at a indoor water park. I have taken them to this indoor water park several times, but only in the summer, we never went to one in the winter. Im mostly worried about them getting sick, but i dont know what the chances of them getting sick are.. Is it a good idea to let them swim in a indoor water park in the winter? Would you take your kids to a indoor water park in the winter?

- If it's indoors, why would they get sick? The only thing that could happen is hypothermia if they go outside wet and/or with wet hair. They can't get sick from swimming in the winter indoors any more often than swimming in the summer indoors.
- If they are indoors it will be warm. Just dry their hair before they go outside. I don't see a difference between indoor swimming and indoor showers. The room is warm, the water is warm, it will be okay.
- Sure. They're heated. You can't get sick from wet hair outside on a cold day. Good lord. The amount of time they would be outside from the building to the car. No one is going to get hypothermia.
- Yes, it is indoors. My daughters take swimming lessons year around. Just before you go outside make sure they are dry and in warm new clothes.
- Sure, why not? they are heated
- I don't see the harm. They are no more at risk of getting sick than during summer time (at least not to my knowledge). The water is chlorinated and I'm sure they keep the place clean. If we had an indoor water park here where we live I'd love to take my kids. Also, yes the pools are heated :) Just be sure to dry your kids thoroughly before going outside again to avoid them getting sick.
- if it is indoors they probably have the heater on and the water is probably heated. that sounds like a lot of fun. i would totally do it.
- They are no more likely to get sick going to an Indoor water park in winter as they are in summer. You get ill from germs not the cold air and you will be drying and dressing them before you leave. So take them and have fun, if they enjoy it who says you can only do it during the hot weather.
- I take my children to The Great Wolf Lodge (indoor water park) and they will be sure to keep things warm. I would be more worried about the response of other childrens' flus' from outside of the park. Water is a breeding ground for sickness and this being the flu season, one of the worse, can be harmful to your children.
- Sure I would. Just make sure they wear winter clothes when they go outside. And make sure they are competely dried when they go back out.
- Why would you be worried about this? If you're worried about them getting sick, just make sure they dry their hair and have dry clothes on before leaving. Simple as that.
- Isn't that the point of indoor pools? To go swimming in the winter? Just make sure they are dry before leaving the water park. And going out in cold weather with wet hair doesn't make you sick, it just gives you split ends. I'd say take them. Sounds like it would be an awesome play to have a birthday party.
- We went and have lived to tell about it.
- you dont catch a cold from being "cold" ..You catch it from a cold germ. Having a sickness like a cold and going to swim in the cold can make the illness worse ..but not if the kids are healthy
- Sure, go for it! Sounds like a great place to have a birthday party.
