New Idea for American soccer??????
I think the should combine the MLS and USL and have American Premire League and American 1st Divison. For example: All the MLS teams and the TOP 7 in the USL should form a 20 team League. And the rest from USL 1 and USL 2 form the 2nd divison...Just like England, Spain, Italy,France,Germany ECT..... So at the end of the season the BOTTOM 3 in the Premire Division would get regulated and the TOP 3 in the 2nd Division would get Promoted... Right Now the Premire Divison would be: New York Red Bulls Kansas City Wizards New England Revolution Chicago Fire D.C. United Toronto FC Columbus Crew FC Dallas Colorado Rapids Houston Dynamo Chivas USA Los Angeles Galaxy Real Salt Lake Rochester Raging Rhinos Vancouver Whitecaps Montreal Impact Seattle Sounders Portland Timbers Carolina Railhawks Puerto Rico Islanders Each team would play each team twice...A home and away series.... The domestic cup would have teams from both divisions... I believe this would push USA to the top of soccer.

- Riot like the eurotards do..... It'll beef up ratings!
- I think that would make it way better. I love soccer. I think most americans are ignorant of the sport as a whole. If they had a good grasp of the rules and techniques they would like it more.
- While I believe in the concept of promotion and relegation, sports owners in the U.S. tend to shy away from it. A franchise that finishes near the back of the top league is worth more than a franchise in the second league. Since owners do not want to lose their investment by being demoted, MLS will never agree a relegation system. I like the U.S. Open Cup mostly as is (which resembles European cups by being open to all divisions). I just wish they would stop changing the rules every year and let all the USL and MLS teams enter (in the appropriate round based on division). Changes to the domestic league will not push the US to the top of soccer. Even the best European and South American nations rely heavily on players who play in the best leagues. Right now that would be the Italian League, the Spanish League, and the English League. All three leagues have much more money than even a revised US Premier League will have at any time in the near future.
- This is a good idea and people have asked questions similar to yours. The problem is that soccer isn't established well enough on the professional level to do that. There aren't enough fans or investors. I don't think that most Americans would like a format with relegation and promotion like that. It would be new to us. I think it would be more exciting to have that though. I'm not sure if it would push the US to the top of soccer though. I do think this would make it more interesting and exciting with a format like that Someday maybe we could have that format but we just aren't ready for that type of format yet.
- no matter what they do football in america will always suck.. #1 they dnt even call it by it real name #2 they have no passion #3 no one likes america at least USA( union of stupid assholes)
- It's two totally different levels; wouldn't work.
- well stop calling it soccer maybe its american but the people in eurpoe will mistake it
- Your league is nowhere near strong enough to have 20 teams. England has nearly 100 pro teams so that's why it works here. Since America is too big of a country, seperate into West and East co-divisions (I know, I know), lose the torunament stage and have the best two teams compete for the title. US Soccer will never be top, never. You don't have enough support or resources to cliam that but I hope Beckham makes a diference in some way. One last thing, if I were to support a U.S team, it would be Toronto FC. They may not be that good, but the support is terrific. U.S teams take note.
