Do i have a bi-polar disorder?

For about a year now i have been experiencing symptoms i though were clinical depression, and general anxiety disorder, but now think i have manic depression. My symptoms are the following: Rapid mood swings, fits of rage, depression, the enjoyment of pain, when i go into rages i feel high, sense of importance, black outs(sometimes happens during rages), thoughts of suicide and death, hitting walls and other solid materials, feeling of hopelessness, anxiety, paranoia, thoughts of hurting others, loss of appetite, loss of hobbies, isolating myself, impulsize behavior, mania, and rapid speech or thought. This has had a advert affect in my life, and even though i have these symptoms my shrinks still think i have clinical depressiong and general axiety disorder. Also if it helps im 16. Also i have been on clonapin, it failed and im on prozac and its starting to fail. Also when i mean "after i have a rage i get a high, i actualy mean a high like an altered consicencious sort of high

  1. yup ur bi-polar
  2. Bi Polar. Is super highs and very low lows. You seem to have the very low lows, You haven't mentioned any super highs. The rage and fits you have sound like it, along with thoughts of suicide. My step daughter is bi-polar, also my ex son in law. They have everything of the above. And this usually starts when your in your teens or early 20's. Maybe you should get a second opinion.
  3. Bipolar disorder causes shifts in moods, ranging from the highs of mania on one extreme, to the lows of depression on the other extreme. Bipolar disorder involves more than just a fleeting good or bad mood; the cycles of bipolar disorder last for days, weeks, or months. There is also such a think as mixed bipolar episodes, where you experience both manic and depressive symptoms. Mania: impulsiveness euphoria sense of power/invincibility little sleeping distractability rapid speech/thought delusions/hallucinations (in extreme cases) Depression: sadness/hopelessness inability to experience pleasure fatigue appetite or weight changes concentration/memory changes thoughts of death or suicide The first manic or depressive episode of bipolar disorder usually occurs in the teenage years, around your age. Your symptoms are in line with the symptoms of both mania and depression. The symptoms can be subtle and confusing, so many people with bipolar disorder are overlooked or misdiagnosed, as you may have been. Treatment may take time to find the proper medication regimen that works for you, but you can lead a rich and fulfilling life. Please see your physician immediately so you can be re-evaluated for the appropriate condition. Best of luck!
  4. You are a normal person. There is nothing wrong with you. The world we live in is unjust and unfair. People will try to make you feel like something is wrong with you to make themselves feel better. Grin and bear it. Your shrinks think they are getting paid that is what they think. The reason that medication is failing is that it was created to fix something by people who do not understand what it is they are trying to fix. Again the pill companies are getting paid. All by making you think you are diseased. They live in little bubbles of ignorance they make with all the money they scam off of people who seek their help. Try being responsible to yourself for what you do there is no disease to blame it on. Get used to the real world, but do not hurt yourself or others! That would be crazy! As far as the rest of it goes just remember to follow your heart. Anyone who lives in this world who is is their right mind also suffers there is nothing wrong with that. What is wrong is when these psycho psychologists start deciding what is normal based upon what it is like to live under a rock sheltered from others suffering as they do. If they wanted to cure people they could cure bipolar disorder in other people the same way psychologists cure it in themselves, by paying them 100-200 dollars an hour! That cures everything! friggen crooks!
  5. dude, i'm bipolar, and it most definately sound like you have it.
  6. doesn't sound like bipolar. more like a schyzoaffective disorder which you need to communicate to your dr.s keep them closely advised of all that you have listed in your question considering you are on a medication that should be closely monitored.
  7. That could be bipolar. Are you getting medicine from a GP or a psychiatrist? If your doctor knows about the manic part he shouldn't have put you on Prozac. SSRI's can actually cause bipolar swings to happen more intensely. If it is bipolar there are a different set of drugs you should be on.
  8. How is your sex drive? How is your sleep? Do you have racing thoughts?
