Good place to try out canoeing in Michigan?

So I'm curious to try canoeing. I can't swim which is an issue, but I'd have a life jacket and I'm not too afraid of water. Anyways...that aside, how should I go about this? I dont really have many friends into it, but I'd love to learn. It seems like it would be fun/kinda peaceful.

1. you must enroll yourself in a school of canoeing of your city, with them you immediately learn and well...
2. Here's a link to a website that will link you to any clubs and schools in your area. It's a website that supports both kayaking and canoeing. That's why it's called paddling.net. It's a great place to learn about both sports. I did a quick search of the paddling schools and didn't see any in the Michigan area so I've left a link to all the clubs. I see at least two of those up in Michigan.
