How would contour lines on a river in a V-shaped canyon look?
I have to draw a contour map of a V-shaped canyon with a river running down the middle, and am very confused. Should the lines disect the river or go around it? or something else entirely?

- The water surface is basically flat so there will be no lines through the water. Then each unit you choose, say 10 feet, in elevation , will parallel the shore edge back from it a bit. Each 10 feet higher, (20, 30, 40, etc.) will be another parallel line further away from the shoreline. The steeper the elevation, the closer together the lines should be. Hope that answers your question.
- let's see if i can draw one: /\ / \ / /\ \ -----/ / \ \-------- ------/ \--------- if the water is flowing down the page - river source at the top, mouth at bottom well, it looked good before it got on the preview page... but if you line up the lines, you've got it.
