If there was a campaign running against banning people from polluting the Ganga River, would anyone listen?
I don't want to upset religious people, but I think this is a very serious issue.

- The answer is :A BIG NO!!This is B'coz our people are so much into superstitious beliefs & myths that it has overpowered their rational thinking..!!And how can u forget our dear politicians who always wait for such issues just to use it for their advantage..!!Dont u know this from the recent ongoing Ram Sethu(Adam's Bridge) issue..!!??!!
- I WISH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BUT I KNOW THEY WOULDNT!!!!!!!!!!!! BUT I REALLY REALLY WISH THEY WOULD. I am a bengali, but i am an american citizen and live in america. the GANGA RIVER IS OF VERY RELIGIOUS IMPORTANCE TO ME!!!!!!!!! I only go to India once a year, and every year I visist the bank of the Ganga River in Kolkata. I was disgusted. I saw men spitting tobacco in it, and then a few feet away women bathing in that water. I saw soda bottles and disgusting man-made scum floating on the river. I felt like screaming "HELLO!!!!!???!!! IF THE GANGA RIVER IS SO IMPORTANT TO YOU, THEN WHY DON'T YOU PAY A LITTLE RESPECT TO IT GOSHDARNIT!!!!!!" It makes me very, very, VERY mad and I seriously think something should be done about it, but the people just wont listen, because what they do to that river is considered acceptable in their society. And the only way to reduce the pollution is if the government bans it, and has guards standing around the river so that they can catch people in the act. which is probably not going to happen.
- How a people so intelligent otherwise having so little hygienic sense simply baffles me! The sheer filth in India and complete lack of interest in very very basic cleanliness is so damn embarrassing, I just do not know where to hide my face. Filth in India over rides every other positive thing Indian like tsunami Wave.
- Every one is finding fault only with the people. Those gullible guys accept whatever is told to them! When it is said that if one takes a dip in its holy waters , his sins would be washed away.Millions go to have a dip there during the melas. If your elder's soul is to rest in peace, you must have his ashes immersed in it. For years many wait and fulfill that wish. To add to it, dead bodies are pushed into it. And all along its course, gutterwater is nonchalantly allowed to mingled with it! How could it remain pure? The need of the hour is not a campaign for banning it but educating them as to how to keep it pollution free!
- Until and unless the people found polluting the Ganga River are penalised , no one will listen.
