What should I expect my first time white water rafting?

I'm going to Wales this friday with some friends to go white water rafting, and it'll be the first time I've ever done anything like it. I'm interested as to what kinda things to expect, and if anyone else has any good/bad experiences with it. All ideas appreciated!

  1. Expect to get wet...and just have fun! =P
  2. i don't recommend doing the crazy intense rivers (level 4 or above) if you have back problems or anything, because it's usually a bumpy ride. if it's your first time and everything, stick to easy stuff (levels 2 or 3). but you guys are gonna have a lot of fun, it's great. umm, some tips? definitely wear a bathing suit when you're doing it, with maybe a t-shirt and shorts over it so you don't get cold. and don't bring valuables, because sometimes stuff goes flying over the side of the boat. my only bad experience rafting was when i lost my digital camera =(
  3. i went once and i had lots of fun. just know that you are going to get very wet. I would get a good guide who can really help you out a lot. don't do anything to hard or you will never want to do it again. have fun
  4. Expect to have fun and as others have stated, expect to get wet. Dont take the river lightly. You need to respect it or it can bite you. Always wear an approved life jacket and if in heavy white water (class IV and V) I'd recommend a helmet as well. Ask your guide about the river and what to expect as all water is different. I grew up on the Rogue River and the Deschutes River in Oregon and they are beautiful but can be dangerous if taken lightly... Have fun Jaxon
