Any ideas for a 4-day high adventure canoe trip in NE US on a low budget? My buddy and I want to take a 4 day non-traditional wilderness canoe trip.. He lives in Ohio and I live in New York.. Our ideal trip will be full of nature and camping along the river.. maybe a few rapids here and there.... we are open to renting a canoe, but buying a cheap/used one would be better... also open to either using a canoe service, or paying some random person to drop us off/pick us up ("Deliverance" style). Any ideas of a good river for us to do this on?
Vacation to Hocking Hills Ohio? I am looking for great ideas for the Hocking Hills area. I will be there with my boyfriend in May. We both love nature and are looking forward to this trip and are staying five nights. We looked in to the zip lines, but he is very tall, putting him over the weight limit. And I am not sure how comfortable he'd be in a canoe or kayak, but maybe a raft. lol. I also like going to local merchant shops for special souvenirs and supporting local artists. I saw listings for a Pencil museum or something along those lines, we like random and unique places. Being students, we're trying to stick to a tighter budget. It looks like most the parks are free and I've found a lot of free activities thus far in my search. We're planning on splurging and having the 7 course dinner at the Glen Laurel. Any ideas for a day trip a couple of hours away would be neat too, like in WV or going to the Newport Aquarium right across the river in KY. Any suggestions would be wonderful. I borrowed some guide books from the library as well. I love planning vacations, but input from fellow travelers is helpful. Thanks so much!!
Kentucky campgrounds with cabins for rent. We are looking to take a little week long vaca here in a week or two, and was looking to go to Kentucky close to the Ohio border maybe a bit further down. A place with trails, canoeing and other activities and allows pets that has been a big one, if anyone knows of a website or a place that would be wonderful I have been online for 3 days and yet to find something..
Where To Go Camping? Me and some friends are considering going camping in the month of June. We live in Ohio and are willing to travel Ohio and Kentucky to whatever camp site suits us. We would like a camp site where we can be left alone and not have to bother with scheduled camp events, and little kids from other campers running around. We would like it as secluded as possible. We would also like to be as close to a body of water as possible for swimming, fishing, canoeing etc. If you would reccomend any places you may have been to or know about that would be great. Thanks.

Will a misdemeanor marijuana charge stop me from getting my rn license? I am currently in college to become a RN and then further my career as a nurse anesthetist. I met with an one of the head advisors in nursing today to ask a few questions about classes. She pulled my file asked me why on my record was I in a certain school. I told her it was an alternative school I had to go to for six months because I was caught with marijuana. Btw, It is sealed information due to me being a minor.( I went to the courthouse today to make sure.) I also had an underage drinking violation, canoeing, when I was 18 or 19 in another state. Nothing showed up on my county record bc I was in a different state and I was a minor with the other charge. So, basically I have a meeting with the head of the dept. tomorrow morning to see if it could interfere with me getting a license. Should I be upfront about everything even though the marijuana charge doesn't show up? The tricky situation may arise when they do a national backround check in order for me to work in a hospital(at least the drinking charge will.) Or am I giving to much info? Anyone been through this situation or know of anyone who has? Btw, I am 25 now and live in the state of Ohio.
A good secluded backpacking/fishing destination? I want to plan a backpacking trip this summer with some friends. I am from Ohio and am willing to drive up to 13 hours. We want to go backpacking for a week and a few days. A spot with very few visitors would be nice. It needs to have good spots to fish. We won't really care what the conditions are as long as it is an interesting place. Something like a lake in the middle of a forest with no roads or anything leading to it were you can fish and camp. I am also open to a hiking/canoeing/kayaking trip as long as the river isn't "too" bad. The boundary waters is a good example but we have already been there so any other spot would be great.

Maximizing revenue question? Hi, I need some help on a math assignment, using the quadratic formula. Here is the question: You run a canoe rental business on a small river in Ohio. You currently charge $15 per canoe and average 42 rentals a day. An industry journal says that, for every 50 cent increase in rental price, the average business can expect to lose 2 rentals a day, and vice versa. Use this information to attempt to maximize your income. What should you charge? I already set the equation up to y=(42-2x)(15+.5x). If you could help me out, that would be greatly appreciated, Thanks
Where in the MI area can I take a one week long unguided canoe or kayak trip? I'm an experienced wilderness camper & I'm planning my 1st river trip for Fall 2010. I have some solo canoe & kayak experience as well, & would like to spend a week paddling about 8 hours a day & camping the other 16. My main concern is finding a river in the Michigan or Ohio area that's safe enough to travel for that rough distance, and doesn't have many seriously shallow spots that will require me to get out & carry my vessel. Thanks in advance
rowing in hawaii?? I would love to get into rowing in Hawaii. I've seen the outrigger canoes on some videos or read about them a little in some travel books. I was on the crew team at Ohio University and I loved rowing...how do you get into it in Hawaii? Are there clubs you can join for fun or for competition? Is it really expensive? Is it much harder than rowing in a regatta? Thanks! I should also add I'm going to be living there by the end of Feburary so i'm looking to row and train with a team.
How to safely get rid of strange river snails in fish tank? I was taking a canoe trip and found a shell in the Miami River in Ohio, so I decided to take it home and put it in my fish tank. I cleaned it off well and then set it in my fish tank. My fish is a blue gorami and is VERY agressive. It will kill any other fish we put in there and when it gets mad or scared it turns deep blue. So, about two weeks later, I noticed a tiny snail inside the tank. I was kind of excited at first, but then it grew. Then I saw four more. Then- BOOM! The snail population exploded. The snails grew and grew and then topped the hundreds. The blue gorami got upset with all these little "visitors" and usually remains deep blue, and even though he kills every other being in that tank, he has not touched a single snail. The snails come out at night, but now they are so numerous that the rocks on the bottom of the tank have become their homes, and many are still left out during the day. You can always see rocks shifting, day and night. But at night they climb along the sides of the tank and it seems after that, there is many more snails the day after. The snails have long, spiraling shells and it is a light brown with a few very tiny brown flecks going in a line down the shell. They seem to have a "clear" tip on the end of their shells. So, I got sick of my poor fish being so upset and so I took long tweezers, (AKA a straw and Q-tips), and got out twenty snails, along with the one that started it all. I finally let the water eveporate and soon enough, they died. But ever since I removed those they have just been growing and growing. I want to take my fish out of the tank and empty all the water for a while, but each time I mess around with a fish they die. :P R.I.P. Many fish So, if there is sombody who knows what kind of snails these are and how I can get rid of them without hurting my fish, I will be really glad and I WILL ONLY ACCEPT COMMENTS AS THE BEST ANSWER IF YOU TELL ME WHAT KIND AND HOW TO GET RID OF THEM! :) Thank you! Oh, and when I got the twenty snails out, I put them in a cup and left the fish in there, and then set the cup on my windowsill. :)
Why do people think that people in Hawaii live in grass shacks? I chat with quite a few people from time to time, a good amount of which are from the continental U.S. and I'm amazed at the amount of people who ask if we still live in grass shacks, travel by canoe, or wear grass skirts. Even my boyfriend who recently moved here from Ohio told me that one of his friends was ragging on him because he'd have to travel by canoe from island to island. Most of the time I assume they're joking, but they usually press me for info because they're serious. I just thought it was interesting that people thought this and wondered why.
Good ideas for a road trip? I live in ohio and would like to go on a road trip. Not a real long one but somewhere out of state. Like I want to have a final destination in mind so first, where would be a fun vacation spot. like myrtle beach or something? is that fun? Id like to drive and stop along the way at cool places. Like the worlds biggest yarn ball and stuff. Just little interesting stuff like that so we wouldn't be driving the entire time. So along the each coast what are some fun and interesting places that we could stop at? Like haunted cemetery's or tourist attractions and stuff. Any ideas? And what would be a real fun vacation spot on the east coast? Not a lot of money but somewhere where we could go hiking and swim and ride horses or canoe or something. Any ideas? *east coast

can you solve this question ! :)? You run a canoe-rental business on a small river in Ohio. You currently charge $12 per canoe and average 36 rentals a day. An industry journal says that, for every fifty-cent increase in rental price, the average business can expect to lose two rentals a day. Use this information to attempt to maximize your income. What should you charge? Then my formula for my revenues R after x fifty-cent price hikes is: R(x) = (12 + 0.5x)(36 – 2x)
