Can I be arrested in my home state for breaking a law in a different state? Hello, Recently I went on a canoeing trip in Missouri on the Current River. It is a well traveled tourist spot, mostly college students partying along the river while canoeing. Recently I was ticketed for illegal possession of alcohol by a minor. I was told I have a court date in the court of the very small Missouri town many miles away from my home in Illinois. I have a few questions about the situation someone may be able to answer or direct me to a resource for the answers. Will Missouri state mail me anything or inform any government offices in Illinois of the incident? Would I be able to be arrested in Illinois if I missed the court date in Missouri? (i.e. I just dont show up and they dont bother finding me) Do the river conservation officers have the same authority as a real police officer? (College security, for instance can give drinking tickets, but they hold little or no meaning if unpaid)

Different US quarters - fifty states and more? Obviously there are some quarters that display a certain state on the back - for instance, the Missouri quarter shows the St. Louis Arch and a picture of Lewis and Clark and Sacagawea in a canoe. Recently I came across a quarter for the District of Columbia and realized this does make sense. But now I'm wondering what other types of quarters are there? Besides the fifty states and the District of Columbia, are there any other quarters dedicated to certain districts, etc?

Why does my summer feel stale? So I was very excited for this summer, I made a lot of plans for stuff to do. It started with a week long canoe trip to Missouri, which was amazing, probably the best camping trip I've ever been on. However, since I got back, I just can't feel it. I've been doing most of the things I've planned, but I just feel like something's missing. At night I always am in this depressed mood for no reason. I don't think stuff like "I wish I was with friends." I just feel depressed. Before my trip, there was all this raw energy. When I got back, it just died. It's been pretty rainy where I live near Chicago, leaving me inside a lot. However, whenever I listen to certain songs, that raw energy just all comes back, should I listen to them every morning? What should I do? Thanks, I really appreciate it!

Is this why foreign cars (Owners) are beating the pants off Ford, General Motors Etc..? A TALE OF TWO COMPANIES A Japanese company (Toyota) and an American company (Ford) decided to have a canoe race on the Missouri River . Both teams practiced long and hard to reach their peak performance before the race. On the big day, the Japanese won by a mile. The Americans, very discouraged and depressed, decided to investigate the reason for the crushing defeat. A management team made up of senior management was formed to investigate and recommend appropriate action. Their conclusion was the Japanese had 8 people rowing and 1 person steering, While the American team had 8 people steering and 1 person rowing. Feeling a deeper study was in order, American management hired a Consulting company and paid them a large amount of money for a second opinion. They advised, of course, that too many people were steering the boat, while not enough people were rowing. Not sure of how to utilize that information, but wanting to prevent another loss to the Japanese, the rowing team's management structure was totally reorganized to 4 steering supervisors, 3 area steering superintendents and 1 assistant superintendent steering manager. They also implemented a new performance system that would give the 1 person rowing the boat greater incentive to work harder. It was called the 'Rowing Team Quality First Program,' with meetings, dinners and free pens and a certificate of completion for the rower. There was discussion of getting new paddles, canoes and other equipment, extra vacation days for practices and bonuses. The next year the Japanese won by two miles. Humiliated, the American management laid off the rower (a reduction in workforce) for poor performance, halted development of a new canoe, sold the paddles, and cancelled all capital investments for new equipment. The Money saved was distributed to the Senior Executives as bonuses and the next year's racing team was "out-sourced" to India . Sadly, the End. However, sad, but oh so true! Here's something else to think about: Ford Has spent the last thirty years moving all its factories out of the US, Claiming they can't make money paying American wages. Toyota has spent the last thirty years building more than a dozen plants inside the US The last quarter's results: Toyota makes 4 billion in profits while Ford racked up 9 billion in losses.

What aquatic critter would make a buzzing noise underwater? More details...? Does anyone have any ideas- We were canoeing last weekend on a still quiet day, and here and there in the water we could hear what was like a cell phone on vibrate or like a sump pump. It wasn't a steady humm, and there were different pitches. You could hear it ahead of you, and when you floated above it, it was very noticable. No bubbles, and we couldn't see anything. It gave me goosebumps, but the guys were fascinated. The little river we were on is a tributary of the Missouri. I'm the first to say I'm not a fisherman, so I'm curious what it was. The guys were wondering if it might be catfish. If so, why are they doing this? Thanks for your time clueing me in! I've caught a few catfish, and I've heard the noises they make on shore. The river is now flooded with all the rain we got this past week. Fisherman-We thought it was a pump of some sort too at first. This is a rural area, and I know my neighbors. People either have rural water or wells. Nobody pumps out of the river, it gets quite shallow in the summer. It's too early for irrigation, and the only activity on it is there is a crew replacing a bridge about 6 miles upstream. They had pumps going a couple of weeks ago so they could do the "footings" (sorry, I'm bridge illieterate!) but that wasn't what we heard. fastrmastrblastr-I did have my digital camera along on Saturday, got some great shots. The wind was blowing that day, and we didn't hear anything. Sunday we had a "first time canoer" along and I didn't want my camera to get wet, you know! That is the day we heard it. Wish I would have had it along now though. The canoes were aluminum, and you could feel the vibration in them.

Humiliated, the American management laid off the rower for poor performance, halted development of a new canoe, sold the paddles, and canceled all capital investments for new equipment. The money saved was distributed to the Senior Executives as bonuses and the next year's racing team was out-sourced to India. Sadly, The End. Here's something else to think about: Ford has spent the last thirty years moving all its factories out of the US, claiming they can't make money paying American wages. TOYOTA has spent the last thirty years building more than a dozen plants inside the US. The last quarter's results: TOYOTA makes 4 billion in profits while Ford racked up 9 billion in losses. Ford folks are still scratching their heads. IF THIS WASN'T SO TRUE IT MIGHT BE FUNNY

Float Trips in Northern/northeastern Oklahoma? I'm looking to go on a float trip in Oklahoma this summer. We always go to southern Missouri, up the Niangua, but we thought we'd try something newer (and closer to Kansas) this year. Anyone know of any good spots? I'm looking for a campground that allows tent camping, outdoor fires, and alcohol to be consumed. Also, I'd like the float trip to be around 6-9 miles, in canoes, with alcohol also allowed. Price would need to be around $5-15 per person, per night, with the canoe rental being around $25-35 per day. If you ever have floated up the Niangua River near Bennett Springs, MO through one of the outfitters there, like Red Beard, Ho-Humm, NRO, etc., you'll know what I'm looking for. I want the exact same thing, only in Oklahoma.
i never been on canoe, raft or paddle boat. which is best to rent for beginners.? I Don't know how to swim and i never been on canoe, kayak, raft or paddle boat. I've my 5 year old with me too. I will be going to Elk River in Southwest Missouri close to Arkansas. Thanks for all your suggestions
Question! Can anyone tell me about the origin of this song? Oh, Shenandoah, I long to hear you Look away, you rollin' river Oh, Shenandoah, I long to hear Look away, we're bound away Across the wide Missouri. Now the Missouri is a mighty river Look away, you rollin' river Indians camp a long her border Look away, we're bound away across the wide Missouri. Well, a white man loved an Indian maiden Look away, you rollin' river With notions his canoe was laden Look away, we're bound away Across the wide Missouri. Shenandoah, I love your daughter Look away, you rollin' river It was for her I'd cross the water Look away, we're bound away Across the wide Missouri. For seven long years I courted Sally Look away, you rollin' river Seven more years I longed to have her Look away, we're bound away Across the wide Missouri. Well, it's fare-thee-well, my dear, I'm bound to leave you Look away, you rollin' river Shenandoah, I will not deceive you Look away, we're bound away Across the wide Missouri. Well, it's fare-thee-well, my dear, I'm bound to leave you Look away, you rollin' river Shenandoah, I will not deceive you Look away, we're bound away Across the wide Missouri.
