What is the toughest whitewater rafting river in Maine? My father in law and I are debating which river is tougher to do whitewater rafting on. I took a trip on the Penobscot River a few years back, basically because some old friends had stated it was the toughest river around. My father in law has done the dead river and states it is the hardest.

Whitewater Rafting? I just went on my first whitewater rafting trip - the Kennebec and Dead Rivers in northern Maine - and I've become addicted! Can anyone suggest other great places to go whitewater rafting? I haven't done any Class V+ yet, but might next month on the Penobscot River (Maine), so any suggestions would be great. Thanks! The Saco River in Maine isn't really made for whitewater rafting. It is more known for a canoeing or tubing river - lots of drinkers float down in the summertime.
