How to get off Academic Probation at a Community College? I am a freshman at Grand Rapids Community College. At the beginning of the school year, I went to class and did all my homework, essays, etc. I lived on my own so I had no one telling me what I can or can't do. In the middle of the semester, I stopped going to class because I thought I had a severe STD. I went to the doctor and everything and he said it could've been herpes but I would have to wait for test results. I was so depressed and in pain. I did not leave the house once... So then after that, I just didn't go to school. Fucked up my first semester, failed all my classes and didn't get any credits. I was then placed on Academic probation. So then the doctor told me it wasn't herpes. I was relieved but at the same time angry because I fucked up school. 2nd semester came by, I told myself that I'm gonna get my shit back together and finish school otherwise I'd be placed on academic suspension.. I went to a few of my classes, some of em were too early so I was lazy and couldn't wake up. I lived about 20 minutes from the CC so I didn't feel motivated to drive or go... I dropped some of my classes down to 4 and then recently found out that I am pregnant. So I dropped another class. And now I'm down to 2 classes. One of my class just started a week ago so I could be able to do good in em. But what I was wondering was, if I was placed on academic probation here or suspension.. Could I still be able to enroll at a different community college? Can someone help me get out of this situation? I'm seriously stressed out! I read some info and it said I will be placed on GRCC's academic probation/suspension so I'm not sure if I can go to another school because I might be moving..

I think I like biology more then chemistry, but I’m pretty good at both.

Culinary Schools (people with experience)? I live in Grand Rapids, Michigan and have been living here my entire life. We have one of the best culinary programs in the country at Grand Rapids Community College, or so I've heard. I have really wanted to go to culinary school for a long time; I want to be a pastry chef. I've been thinking lately that I might want to go somewhere else other than GRCC for culinary. I hope people that answer this "question" will give me their experience at different schools, but what I'm most curious is the culinary school in Napa Valley, California. I want experience something new because now it's in my blood. I went to Germany to be an Au Pair once, and though it didn't work out I still thought it was a great experience. So tell me what you've experienced! I'm so curious.
If you are gay/lesbian, would you want to be appart of my ethnography? If you are gay/lesbian I was wondering if you wanted to be appart of my study at Grand Rapids Community College. I am writing a mini-enthnography on the gay and lesbian community. I am of course going to go out into the community to do this, but thought it might also be a good idea to get some input from other communites. If you feel comfortable answering the following basic questions I would greatly appreciate it. Again, please only answer them if you are gay/lesbian. What is your age? Where do you live? What is your country of origin? What is your highest level of education? Are you married? What are your religious views? Do you have any children? What is your occupation? Are you involved in any organizations? What are your political views? Do you do smoke/drink? Do you do any illegal drugs? What are your means of transportation? Do you have any siblings? What are your hobbies/sports you play/watch? What is your sexual preference? What age did you find out that you were gay/lesbian? Explain some hardships that come from being gay/lesbian? Does your family know you are gay/lesbian, and if so, how accepting are they? Do people at your work know you are gay/lesbian? Is hard for you to find a monogamous relationship, or easy, being gay/lesbian? Do you tend to tell people you are gay/lesbian when you first meet them? How many times a week do you go out to clubs/bars/participate in the gay/lesbian community? Anything about your history you would like to tell, please do: Also if you have any other questions you think I should be asking that would greatly be appreciated as well. Thanks for your participation. =] I will be giving everyone who answers these questions a "code #" in my ethnography to protect your identity. Thanks again, Scott

Cover letter rough draft correction? I'm writing a cover letter and I have a rough draft. Could you please help me correct any errors? "Dear Mr. Baar, I'm writing to you because I'm interested in applying for the Library Clerical Aide I. I have almost two years library experience, working as a page at west leonard. I'm currently a college student at Grand Rapids Community College. I will soon be transferring to Grand Valley State University. Hopefully, I will be working on my bachelor's degree in international relations and foreign languages. You could reach me at (616) ***-9534. If I have not heard from you by May 30, I will contact your office to inquire a potential meeting time. Sincerely, Kenneth Ford
A Comedy Show Outfit? I'm going with my boyfriend this Friday night to a Kevin Hart comedy show and I have no idea what to wear. It's an 18 and up show of course but it's going to be held in a college field house (If you live in Michigan it's Grand Rapids Community College to be exact) so I don't know what to wear.. I'm going to make the safe assumption to wear what I usually wear (a nice t-shirt and jeans). I've never been to a comedy show in a college field house so that's what threw it off a little as to what to wear. I feel silly asking this but hey, better safe than sorry I guess.
How is Kendall College when it comes to its photography program? I'm majoring in photography and currently attending a 2-year community college (OCC in Michigan) and a classmate of mine told me she's going to Kendall College of Art and Design in Grand Rapids. Architectural Buildings in Grand Rapids, MI? I am an architecture student at Lansing Community College. I have an assignment that requires me to take pictures of various concepts of architecture in buildings (Ex. the use of proportions in a building, patterns, light, geometrical designs, ideas of sounds, etc.). I live in Lansing, MI and there is not a whole lot to visit here. I am planning on taking a one day trip to Grand Rapids to do some site-seeing. I am looking for interesting structures that are open to the public for me to visit an photograph. I plan on visiting the Devos center, the newly built art museum, and anything else on the way. My questions is: Does anyone know of any architecturally interesting buildings in Grand Rapids that are open to the public (preferably without having to pay) that I can visit and photograph? Thanks in advance!
is grand rapids MI very homophobic? I'm moving there in the fall for college with some friends.(they're going to the art school, so I don't think homophobia will be bad for them) I'm going to the community college and I'm kinda worried I guess. Any advice? Or help?

If Michigan has a budget surplus, does that mean we are taxed too much, and should get a tax CUT? Last year when we were working on the budget, Michigan was in crisis mode. We had to eliminate a $1.5 billion deficit. But because we made the tough decisions necessary to structurally balance the budget, this year we have a surplus of about $457 million and we are able to make strategic investments for the future. Today, I proposed my budget recommendation to the Legislature. And I want to know what you think. Tonight at 6:30 I am holding an online town hall meeting to discuss the budget and answer your questions. To join in, all you have to do is go to *www.facebook.com/rickformichigan* [ http://www.facebook.com/rickformichigan ]. You can also submit a question ahead of time by posting a question to my Facebook page or sending a message to *@OneToughNerd* [ http://www.twitter.com/onetoughnerd ] on Twitter using the hashtag #AskGovSnyder. Here's a video where I discuss my budget recommendation: Budget Rec Video [ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EXuTO8OQhQc&feature=youtu.be ] "Here are some of the Fiscal Year 2012-2013 budget highlights: "*Schools *I’m pleased *we are able to increase funding for K-12 education this year* [ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MaxBWnca7p0&context=C3c7de71ADOEgsToPDskLqrPoptVVkIotPsveTTblm ]. We are protecting the amount schools receive per student, and we are actually increasing funding by $200 million for schools that implement best practices and show student growth. We will also help pay down long-term liabilities, which means schools will be able to keep more money in the classroom to educate students instead of paying for retirement legacy costs. * **Higher Ed *This year we are in a position to make a strategic investment by increasing funding for community colleges and universities by 3 percent. But in return for more state assistance, we will ask community colleges and universities to keep tuition rates low and implement best practices. *Saving for the future *When I took office, Michigan barely had enough money in the rainy day fund to run the state for 30 minutes. Last year, we made the first significant deposit in a decade. This year, I am proposing we *save an additional $130 million* [ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IPqUT8visW0&context=C38c7d85ADOEgsToPDskJEZtBn3PNwTrQDHzn8Esgh ] so we can build up our reserves in case of an emergency. Budget Stabilization Fund *Roads and infrastructure *Michigan’s infrastructure loses approximately $3 million of value a day, so I’ve asked lawmakers to allocate enough state funds needed to ensure Michigan gets our full share of federal matching dollars for roads, which will help the state pay for maintenance and improvement costs. *Increased funding for public safety *Michigan has 4 of the top 10 most dangerous cities in the U.S., which is why *I am proposing we increase funding for law enforcement* [ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MCfFn7JdQ1Q&context=C3680fccADOEgsToPDskKBx2i3mkqFqD4VKNpZQW2G ], criminal justice reforms and programs to help our youths. I will address this issue in more detail in March. *Helping local governments *Many of our cities and townships across the state are struggling, which is why I am recommending the state increase the amount of revenue it shares with local units of government. I am also seeking a larger increase to the pool of grant money that is available to help municipalities that want to work together to save money. For example, last year Grand Rapids, Lansing and Flint agreed to combine their income tax processing system. The state helped cover the one-time cost of setting up the new system, which will result in significant savings for years to come. *Protecting the vulnerable *Just as we did last year, the budget protects Medicaid provider reimbursement rates to ensure low-income residents have access to medical care. I am also asking lawmakers to extend dental programs and home heating assistance. For the first time, the state will also help cover autism treatment. *Sustained funding for job and economic development programs *In the past, many of our job and economic development efforts relied on one-time funding. We are bringing stability to the system by dedicating reliable funds for economic development and jobs programs.
Underage DUI in Michigan? Hi, I'm 20 years old and have two minor in possession offenses on my record for alcohol, and was just arrested Saturday night in Grand Rapids MI on a DUI. My concern is that I'm leaving to go back to school in RI on Wednesday, and am concerned about jail time. Am I not going to be able to go back to college because they'll make me go to jail, am I going to go to jail for a first DUI? I just am really scared I'm not going to be able to go back to college cause I'll have to do jail time or community service.
